Bob Odenkirk’s Nobody 2 Brings Back the Reluctant Assassin — But Does It Hit the Mark?

Bob Odenkirk is back in action, and fans of the 2021 surprise hit Nobody have been counting down the days. The sequel, aptly titled Nobody 2, hits US theaters on August 15, 2025 — and it’s already making waves online.

This time around, Hutch Mansell isn’t just defending his family from home invaders; he’s on a chaotic, globe-trotting mission that blends brutal fight scenes with dry humor. Directed by Timo Tjahjanto, the film promises even more over-the-top action sequences, featuring a supporting cast that includes Sharon Stone, RZA, and Colin Hanks.

Critics, however, are divided. The Washington Post praised Odenkirk’s charm and the film’s “vacation-gone-wrong” energy but admitted it’s not quite as fresh as the first installment. The Associated Press called it “John Wick Lite,” while The Guardian appreciated the energy but noted a lack of narrative depth.

Still, for action lovers, Nobody 2 delivers exactly what it promises — high-octane stunts, clever kills, and Odenkirk proving once again that a middle-aged suburban dad can be Hollywood’s most unexpected action hero. Fans can expect a mix of bloody set pieces, tongue-in-cheek humor, and callbacks to the first film’s best moments.

Whether or not Nobody 2 wins over the critics, one thing is certain: Hutch Mansell’s brand of chaos is back, and audiences are ready for the ride.
